Description

Join PIRs Gender Politics Research Group to celebrate Dr Rebecca Hewer’s new book, Sex-Work, Prostitution and Policy: A Feminist Discourse Analysis.

This event marks the launch of a new book Sex-Work, Prostitution and Policy: A Feminist Discourse Analysis, which explores the discursive character of Westminster sex-work/prostitution policy debates. It critically analyses the plurality of 'feminist' narratives which contribute to these debates (and which variously appear in and are excluded from resulting policy documents) before bringing them into dialogue with a range of critical social theories. Moreover, the book builds on extant theorising in order to articulate a more progressive politics of sex-work/prostitution.

This book launch engages the long generated contentious debate on the topic of sex work/prostitution, particularly within the broad church of feminism.
