Professor Ben Rosamond elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

Professor Ben Rosamond has become a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, in the latest cohort of “some of the most influential voices in social science today.”
Ben, Professor of Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh, is one of 74 academics to receive a prestigious fellowship from the Academy in its latest awards round.
The Academy elected the new Fellows for their ‘significant contributions to social sciences’ across a range of research and practice areas.
Ben’s work is at the intersection of International Political Economy and European Union studies. He works in the Politics and International Relations subject area at the School of Social and Political Science.
He said: “I am deeply honoured to have been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and it is especially gratifying to receive this accolade from my academic peers. I’ve always endeavoured in my scholarly, teaching and service roles to work across field boundaries and to promote and defend methodological pluralism. The Academy does such important work to promote social science at a time when it is needed more than ever. I am delighted to be part of its work going forward.”

The Academy’s Fellowship comprises 1,750 leading social scientists from academia, the public, private and third sectors. Fellows’ expertise covers the breadth of the social sciences, and their practice and research helps to understand and address some of the major challenges facing communities, society, places and economies. All Academy Fellows are elected for their excellence in their fields and their substantial contributions to social science for public benefit. Selection is through an independent peer review which recognises their excellence and impact.
