Social policy academic to serve as Welsh Government policy fellow

Dr Elke Heins, a senior lecturer in social policy, has been awarded one of 21 prestigious Policy Fellowships that give academics the opportunity to work in government departments on pressing policy challenges.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Welsh Government, Dr Heins’ 18-month fellowship will focus on the impact of COVID-19 on skills, higher education and lifelong learning in Wales, and how government can best support society’s ongoing recovery from the pandemic.
The fellowship builds on Dr Heins’ expertise and research on UK labour market policy from a comparative perspective and her experience in collaborating with governments and third sector organisations.
