PhD student, Social Policy

Background

A former elite athlete for Canada, I am researching sport policies that are intended to provide a duty of care for athletes. Which policies actually improve athlete wellbeing beyond performance? Can we compare these policies from sport to sport, country to country? Do governments who publicly fund elite athletes have an onus of duty of care?

I come from a background of research in genetics, molecular anthropology and health policy. Most recently I've been working in tracking COVID-19 policies around the globe to compare and contrast government responses to the COVID pandemic. I've also worked in sport policy with the UK government, and in elite and professional sport transition pathways (from competition to retirement).
