My main research topics include food practices, inequality, social/cultural distinction, and urban China, with the primary influence from the works of Pierre Bourdieu. My PhD research focuses on the multi-contextual daily routines of food practices of individual Chinese urbanites, combined with their food biographies, with the primary aim of exploring how inequality and distinction are socialised and lived through in multiple urban spaces of contemporary China. Before this, I mainly worked with quantitative methods (including Multiple Correspondence Analysis) to study the homology between the social space and the space of food consumption from the Bourdieusian perspective.
