Research interests

My doctoral research project is part of an ERC-selected and UKRI-funded research project called Studying Parliaments and the Role of Knowledge (SPARK) (PI: Dr Marc Geddes, University of Edinburgh). For my PhD, I am conducting research on the role of knowledge in the European Parliament (EP), focusing on two specific health issues: the COVID-19 pandemic and cancer. More precisely, I examine how and why European policymakers use, analyse, and gather knowledge. Specifically, I investigate what types of knowledge they engage with, how, and under what circumstances, the reasons for this engagement, and the different interpretations of knowledge. I study this using a comparative research design that based on mixed methods, combining citation analysis, semi-structured interviews, and speech analysis.
