What can I do with my degree?

SPS destinations

The specific skills and techniques gained by studying a SPS degree can be useful in numerous jobs. Professions include marketing associate professionals, business associated professionals, and HR related roles.

Other areas of work may include politics and government, policy work, charity and development work, journalism, accountancy, social and political research, and education.

More than a fifth of graduates go on to further study and may choose to specialise in a particular subject at Master's level or broaden their opportunities and move into careers such as law and journalism.

Career planning

Career planning is all about knowing yourself, knowing what's out there, making decisions and then implementing them. The first steps can be the hardest - visit the Careers Service to start your journey.

The Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance to help students and recent graduates explore different career options and make decisions for the future.

You can talk over your options with a careers consultant or get feedback on job applications.

Advice on CVs, application forms and interviews

We have a range of reference materials in the Careers Service to help you with the job application process. 

We offer a range of lunchtime workshops on these topics. All workshops will be advertised via MyCareersHub

You can also book a mock interview to get some practice before you go for the real thing.

Talks and events

We offer a range of information sessions on different career areas, further study, skills sessions, employer presentations, and more. There are also employer, further study and volunteering careers fairs.

You may need to book in advance for some of these but MyCareerHub will have all the details.
